Mark Dickson is the founder and principal of Top of the World Consulting. He has over 20 years' experience in product development, product management and operations and has demonstrated his skills in senior positions at some of the most established players in the asset management industry and in helping some of the smallest.
He has recently been applying his consultancy skills to a number of firms advising on, and implementing, changes in relation to the MiFid, AIFMD and UCITS Directives and FCA Product Governance requirements, including advising on the establishment and management of a new structured investments firm.
Prior to returning to consulting Mark was Managing Director, Operations at Incapital Europe Limited, following on from his involvement in 2007 as a founder and Product development and Operations Director of Blue Sky Asset Management, a multi-award winning boutique investment firm specialising in research backed structured investments.
From 2005 to 2007 Mark operated as a consultant, with assignments including : advising Canada's largest mutual fund company on entering the European Fund market; advising a start up asset manager on entry strategies for the UK market, including valuing potential acquisitions; establishing one of the first funds to make full use of derivatives under UCITS III; designing a product profitability model for Threadneedle Asset Management; and launching new products for Morgan Stanley in the UK and Luxembourg.
From 2002 to 2004 Mark was Head of Product Development for Invesco Perpetual, responsible for product development strategy for UK Retail and Institutional clients. Designing and implementing a major, financially beneficial, programme of change for the UK product range
From 1996 to 2002 Mark was responsible for product development at HSBC Asset Management, ultimately as Global Head of Product Development responsible for all product development activity globally, across all asset classes for retail, institutional and private clients with teams in all major overseas centres (Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan, Australia, Canada, US, Brazil and Argentina).
From 1990 to 1996 Mark worked for Save & Prosper Group and gained significant with both the UK range and the Fleming Flagship SICAV.
When not consulting Mark indulges his passion for travel, mountaineering and photography. The highlight of his mountaineering endeavours was a successful ascent of Everest in 2012
and completion of the Marathon des Sables in 2017
